How can I apply for general surgical residency in the UK after an MBBS in India?
Here is some pathways through which you can join UK medical system
- Take and clear PLAB – work as JR for some years – show your competency and if you get chance, move to surgical work
- Join a post graduation course in Surgery in a UK university – study, get knowledge and experience at UK standards – take and clear MRCS – start working as a surgeon
The chances of success are a bit higher in second option as you would have studied at UK standards. Also you get an opportunity to take MRCS directly thus bypassing PLAB and by this you save on your time.
